The Special Joke

on Monday, December 4, 2006

Mourinho Fury At “Conspiracy”

Other teams deliberately “trying to beat” champions

Chelsea Supremo Jose Mourinho has launched a fierce attack on forces inside football he believes are staging a premeditated vendetta against is team. The Blues chief is furious at recent moves by other teams to “beat” his star-studded side - often by openly attempting to score more goals than the double title-winning Stamford Bridge outfit.

“We have seen this at Chelsea many times,” muttered the brooding Portuguese. “It wasn’t so bad last season, most teams allowed us to beat them quite easily. But this year we have felt the other side wants to defeat us every time we step on to the pitch.”

Mourinho had a message for people inside the game who believe the Chelsea boss is developing a tedious new motivational technique based around giving TV interviews slightly too close to the camera and whispering phrases like “what can I do?” and “you tell me what the truth is” while raising his eyebrows mysteriously.

“People say we are paranoid and I say to them - look at the facts. I have seen players from other teams come to Chelsea and not only score goals but celebrate them. I’ve seen visiting managers urging their teams on from the touchline. You try telling me these people don’t want to beat us. This is no accident.”

Worryingly for the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, the problem is not limited to the Premiership. Mourinho says he has been amazed to see players in the Champions League attacking the Chelsea goal, while simultaneously “defending” their own penalty area. “It’s as though they didn’t want us to be crowned Europe’s top club at all,” blasted the Blues supreme.

Sensationally, the former Porto chief believes the anti-Chelsea conspiracy has even spread beyond the field of play.

“I can give you more examples,” he said, opening is eyes wide in a slightly creepy way. “Last week we have to put the clocks back one hour. One whole hour in the week that Chelsea travel to Barcelona. Just Chelsea, no other team. You must ask yourself how this could happen in this country.”

“Every day is something different. This week I had a telephone call saying I may have already won a holiday in Florida. After two hours on hold listening to the Bee Gees singing How Deep Is Your Love, what is the truth? They give me a voucher for a free beauty treatment on any all-inclusive hotel away weekend break. Does this happen to Arsenal? To Manchester United? You must ask them. Is this justice? I can’t say. You tell me.”
